Open for Business: Can Do Virtual Assisting

While looking for a new opportunity, Mary Albright learned of AssistU through a friend. Mary quickly realized the training there would be a great fit for her. Through her AssistU training she established a support structure for her new business and developed a business plan. Now an AssistU graduate, Mary is owner of Can Do Virtual Assisting [link to: http://www.candova.com/]. As a virtual assistant, Mary works with small business owners to give them the gift of time. Although Mary is especially strong in social media and email marketing, she provides across the board administrative support for her clients, allowing them to focus on the things they love and do best.

The Virtual Answer: Being an assistant from afar provides a flexible option.

This article, by Caitlin Crawshaw, features Virtual Assistance and AssistU virtual assistant, Bonnie Taylor-Wachowicz. The article tells of Bonnie's frustration working in "toxic workplaces" with "toxic people." In 1999, Bonnie's life changed when she was laid off from her corporate job. Knowing that her skills were a valuable resource, she weighed her options and enrolled in AssistU and started her business, Taylor Made Time. After graduating from AssistU Bonnie worked as a successful virtual assistant for nearly a decade. Just recently, Bonnie changed gears and now focuses her virtual business on virtual career coaching and small business consulting.

    Virtual Assistance with Anastacia Brice

"Whether you’re needing a virtual assistant or looking to become one, AssistU founder Anastacia Brice discusses the many nuances of the ever popular Virtual Assistance movement."

On March 25, 2010, Anastacia Brice was interviewed by John Follis on The Marketing Show. Anastacia clarified for John and the listening audience the difference between true virtual assistants and other business owners, who offer their services online. She also distinguished between virtual assistants and off-shore companies, who provide assistance with more rudimentary tasks. A true virtual assistant, as defined by AssistU, is an administrative expert, who partners with clients, applies critical thinking in that partnership to bring the best help that can be offered to their clients. Anastacia (Anastacia) tells of her background about how she got started working virtually in the mid-1980s, to her connections with the coaching industry and on to founding the AssistU Training Program in 1997. AssistU provides the most comprehensive training program for VAs. AssistU not only trains VAs, it also provides a community for AssistU-trained VAs, and provides a referral program for businesses interested in partnering with the best the industry has to offer.
