AssistU VA Spotlight

Alexa Gregory

Hi! You’ve come to a great place to find help getting your business running smoothly and reaching new heights. AssistU provides an incredible training program and I am proud to be a graduate of it.

My name is Alexa Gregory and my company is Add Insight Virtual Administration. I am passionate about creating dynamic and strategic partnerships with my clients. I know how hard it is to wear all the hats that starting and growing a business require. I also know how hard it is to take that first step when you know you need help. Of course you can do things best, but there are only so many hours in the day. Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone else who cares as much about your business to hand things off to so that you can go for the next opportunity? Wouldn’t it be great to have someone looking out for new ways of doing things better? Wouldn’t it be great to have someone to brainstorm and collaborate with? There when they are needed and not when they aren’t.

As a small business owner myself for nearly 30 years, I have honed my skills in a wide variety of areas. While in college at the University of California, Berkeley, I worked as a medical office manager and started my own business setting up new medical offices. After college, my husband and I started a lighting manufacturing business, which is still in operation today. Later I opened a retail lighting store, which I ran for a decade.

Wanting to try something different, I did several seasons of tax return preparation and accounting for a CPA. Being an employee again made me realize that I really preferred being self-employed, wanted my own business, wanted flexibility, and did not want employees. I took classes in financial planning and graphic design (Photoshop, InDesign, DreamWeaver) and thought about how to pull all my experience and interests together. Then I found AssistU and the virtual assistant profession. The rest is history.

Being a virtual assistant is exactly where I want to be. I love the variety inherent in working with a handful of well-chosen clients. I love the challenge to keep learning new programs and tools and sharing them with my clients. I love the connection that develops when there is synergy, honesty, and trust. I love working at home with no commute. I love the fact that I have given my children roots and now they are flapping their wings. I love watching the fog role in through the Golden Gate. I love being able to take a break and take a walk in the Berkeley Hills. I love the peace and sense of order in my life. I want to share that with my clients too.
