AssistU VA Spotlight

AssistU is proud to put Janet Edmiston Smith in the spotlight!

Greetings from the Great and Soggy Pacific Northwest! We have rain here to mask the fact that it is the most wonderful place in the country to live! The bluest skies you've ever seen truly are in Seattle. We are close to the mountains and the oceans, with more small boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. My name is Janet Edmiston Smith and I am a Certified Professional Virtual Assistant. I have worked in large companies and very small companies, managing logistics, warehouses, presidents, sales people and inventories, amongst others. I am well versed in all aspects of running your business. In my many years in the corporate world I have developed the skills necessary to help you succeed in your business. I am detail oriented, flexible and I rely on my sense of humor to help make life and work fun. My professionalism is one of the greatest strengths that I offer my clients.

I value honesty, integrity and loyalty and try to live my life by these values. I bring commitment, focus and determination to doing a job well so that I, and my clients, can enjoy the excitement of success! I try to live each day to its fullest, while honoring the values that I hold most dear. That is what I bring to my business and into my work with my clients.

While looking for a new corporate position I was looking through postings on the Monster.com message boards. Someone was complaining about their boss and their job and a poster responded asking them why they didn't come join them as a Virtual Assistant, and gave a description of what they were doing. The proverbial light bulb went off in my head.

I spent the next several days researching Virtual Assistance, gathering all of the information that I could. The more I read, the more I knew this was the "new position" I was looking for. I also determined that AssistU was the premier choice to help me along my path to success. I immediately applied to AssistU and was accepted, a pretty exclusive group to be accepted into. AssistU has the most stringent acceptance policies in the industry — if you work with an AssistU alumni, you are working with the best. I am honored to be amongst this wonderful and talented group of people.

On a personal level, I have been married to a wonderful man for 18 years — we were married six weeks after our first date – there are great things that can come out of the corporate world! We have two kittens, Duncan and Charlotte, who are a joy to have around. It is fun to see them explore their world — it reminds us to enjoy ours.
