AssistU is proud to put Judy Segawa in the spotlight!
Hi! I'm Judy Segawa, and I started the career of my dreams in April 2002 after graduating from AssistU's Virtual Training Program. Admin work has been my passion since I was a kid. Would you believe?....My favorite game was "playing office" and one of my favorite toys was my cousin's Royal typewriter (the black, clunky one!). So not surprisingly, I got my first "secretarial job" at age 12 when I was elected secretary of my 4-H club! Since then I've experienced many of my happiest moments doing admin work and being someone's invaluable assistant.
Although my degree was in Human Resources, I didn't pursue a career in that field but instead worked in various admin positions for over 30 years. My positions included Executive Secretary for shopping center management, Admin Assistant for a real estate developer, Office Manager for a private duty nursing agency, Secretary/Bookkeeper for a landscape architectural firm, and Assistant Fiscal Officer for a scientific research institute.
In 2000, I left my last corporate job. I was prodded by a deep knowing that I needed to listen to my heart and find something more fulfilling. Yes, I still loved admin work but I longed for a more supportive and appreciative environment in which to utilize my skills. It was not a coincidence that I was led to Cheryl Richardson's book Take Time for Your Life, which introduced me to Virtual Assistance and AssistU. I was so excited! I knew that having a fulfilling career as a Virtual Assistant was the next step in my life's journey!
Today, as I look out my window and see the blue skies, hear the birds singing and feel the cool, gentle breeze, I feel so blessed that I'm doing what I love to do from my home office in Honolulu, Hawaii. I've lived here all my life, and have worked, played and studied with a multi-ethnic population.
Thus, what I offer my clients is not only what I've done professionally, but the totality of who I am. I bring to my practice what I like to consider a "mellow, Island personality" that's flavored with my other interests. These include DahnMuDo (healing martial arts), ballroom dancing, and walking in the beautiful areas of the island. Also, for most of my adult life I've had a deep interest in holistic well being, alternative healing modalities and spiritual development.
As I journey through life, my desire for my business is to partner with kindred spirits who value wellness, joyful living and personal growth!
