AssistU VA Spotlight

AssistU is proud to put Myra Kitson in the spotlight!

Hi! My name is Myra Kitson and I'm happy to have the opportunity to share a little about myself and my journey in virtual assistance. I've been a virtual assistant since I completed the program "way back" in '98, before the turn of the century. Why, I think that makes me an old-timer! <G> Before I became a virtual assistant, I was an internal auditor, real estate agent, cattle sale barn office manager and customer service rep for a computer hardware and software reseller.

My husband and I purchased our first computer in 1981 (yes, they did make home computers back then) and have never been without one since. So, when my husband saw the article about virtual assistance in Inc. Magazine in the fall of 1997, I was captivated. How exciting to know there was a way to work, using the tools I loved, to help others create success and, at the same time, have the flexibility to take care of my family.

I'm blessed to be able to work with individuals that I consider not only clients, but friends and to create a practice that fits me perfectly. I handle a variety of tasks for all of my clients but, most importantly, I believe I create a wonderful sense of "everything will be alright" for my clients. I also have another set of clients — the students of AssistU that I'm lucky enough to interact with as an instructor. I'm constantly amazed at the talents that exist in this community and feel very lucky to be able to work with students as they explore and grow through the VTP.

I was born and still live in a small town of 40,000 in south central Kansas. With a larger city nearby, I think I have the best of small-town living. My husband and I have been married for 26 wonderful years and we're incredibly proud of our 20-year old son! We share our home with a fish, a cockatiel and a very large Labrador puppy. When I'm not having fun in my office, I spend time puttering in my yard, reading, camping and playing volleyball. Life is good!
